Description

Schicker Farms is a family run livestock and grain farm. We are seeking 1 dedicated worker with a cattle background to join our team. Individual should have 5 years of cattle experience, be reliable, self-motivated and understand additional work hours during peak times. No post-secondary education is required, but preference will be given to an applicant with livestock-related education and courses.

Duties and skills include:
Calving and rearing cattle; Feeding/tending to cattle; maintaining livestock performance records; detecting and treat certain diseases and health problems in livestock; transportation of livestock to the pasture; checking and maintaining pasture fencing; operating and maintaining equipment for haying and baling; implementing pasture and pen breeding programs (including Artificial Insemination); develop and implement feeding programs, adjusting the feeding program to the nutritional needs of the herd; Follow safety and bio-security procedures; Assist in selecting livestock for sale; General farm duties as assigned.

Must have:
    Experience with cattle
    Experience with operating, maintaining and repairing medium to large farm equipment
    Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
    Ability to work long hours during peak season
    Validy Class 5 drivers licence.
