Job Description: The Sexual Health Coordinator (SHC) integrates experience, advanced level skills and knowledge in sexually transmitted infections and blood borne pathogens using nursing theory, population health promotion strategies, and principles of adult learning and harm reduction. The SHC provides direct client service including client needs assessment, diagnosis/treatment of STIs, notification and contact tracing, client and staff education/orientation, resource development and participation in research for the target population. A leadership role is provided in the areas of care, assessment, research, and education.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to adapt to changing conditions
Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
Ability to travel both within the region and provincially
Advanced assessment skills
Advanced change management skills
Advanced communication skills
Advanced interpersonal skills
Advanced organizational skills
Knowledge of population health
Required Qualifications continued:
A minimum of three years public health nursing experience in which leadership ability, competence in practice and administrative ability have been demonstrated.
