Facility: ADMINISTRATION - SHR
Job Description: Accountable to the Manager, the Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for providing infection prevention and control related services within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) integrated service areas.  This includes supporting the implementation and maintenance of an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program, provide training and education related to IPAC and infectious disease, and by consulting on matters related to IPAC as an expert resource.  The incumbent will participate in quality improvement or research activities as needed within the SHA.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent, or required to obtain within 3 years of employment
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Experience
Must have recent experience in infection control, communicable disease tracking and investigative processes.
Other Information

Note:  This position is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Article 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement, however first preference will be given to employees of Sunrise Health Region.

Knowledge Skills and Ability
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of computers such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate the important components of infection control with all levels of staff and patients
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology, and infectious disease
