Description

The Moose Jaw Public Library is hiring a Summer Student to help organize and run summer programming for children.

We are looking for a versatile and friendly person who is passionate about reading, literacy, and learning. The successful candidate should be able to work with children and patrons of any age, background, or socio-economic status, and will be eager to learn new skills and share their knowledge with others. The candidate must be confident and outgoing and able to deliver programs to large groups of children.

This job is open to anyone aged 15  30 who is able to work in Canada. This position is 35 hours per week for a period of 8 weeks, and involves shift work including evenings and weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities include:
-Providing excellent library service and programming to children and their parents in the library and out in the community
-Working closely with Childrens coordinator and other programmers to provide exciting and relevant summer programs to children and families
-Reporting to the Assistant Head Librarian and working closely with the staff of the Childrens department to contribute to Summer Reading Club programming and undertaking programming independently
-Creating craft kits; monitoring craft supplies and restocking when necessary
-Data entry and coordination with community groups
-Other duties as assigned
