Facility: Infection and Prevention Control
Job Description: The Infection Control Practitioner is trained and knowledgeable in infection control & healthcare epidemiological principles.  This position is responsible to protect & promote the health of the community by using best scientific practices for prevention and assurance of quality health care.  The Infection Control Practitioner specializes in helping to prevent healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread; systematically collects, analyzes & interprets health data in order to plan; implement; evaluate & disseminate appropriate public health practices; trains health care employees and volunteers through instruction and distribution of information on all aspects of infection control practices.
Required Qualifications

Current Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) is an asset.
Degree in Nursing or other relevant Health Sciences Degree (related to infection prevention and control) acceptable to the Employer
Registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate licensing body
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point
Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate the important components of infection control with all levels of staff and patients
Displays excellent verbal and written communication skill
Possesses knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology and infectious disease
Possesses knowledge of how to identify, investigate and control of outbreaks of infectious diseases in
