Description

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
Acquire, maintain and care for traditional and sacred items; deliver traditional medicines education, e.g. teachings, care for and use, storage, medicine bags, harvesting of medicines utilized at WWC;
Connect with and support WWC Elder/Cultural Advisors and/or traditional resource people, and / or arrange and oversee any ceremonies such as the Sweat Lodge and other traditional offerings and customs;
Support the planning of traditional dancing, singing, drumming, community and/or seasonal celebrations, traditional and social events as required e.g. The WWCs milestone celebrations;
Lead planning, development and implementation of culture-based activities for Treatment area participants such as, but not limited to; cultural camps, canoe trips, hunting, fishing, gathering, planting and harvesting community gardens, berry picking expeditions, trips and traditional outings for the participants;
Creates and maintains networks to ensure a well-maintained list of credible Elders and traditional knowledge keepers is available for the purposes of ceremonial and traditional healing supports. Includes training of sweat lead facilitation if required;
Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
1-2 years experience working with First Nations clients, Lived experience and/or Maintenance of established recovery;
A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered;
Extensive knowledge of and experience with Woodland Cree Culture, Traditions and History with a particular emphasis on substance misuse and the impacts of historical trauma;
Must have a Valid Class 5 Drivers License and own a reliable vehicle;
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, and COVID-19 Vaccination Passport.
