Reporting to the Operations Manager in the Department of Parks and Recreation, this position is responsible for: the administration, planning, staffing and labour required for the maintenance and operation of designated City owned parks, sports fields, playgrounds, outdoor rinks, pathways, boulevards, greenspace & cemeteries.
This position will perform the following duties:
Implement and monitor the preventative and ongoing maintenance programs
Supervising and training subordinate parks personnel
Serve as Municipal Inspector as it relates to the provincial Forest Resources Management Act and Weed Control Act
Ensure the completion of accurate and timely horticulture programs
Developing and managing department policies related to the operation and maintenance of parks and associated maintenance equipment, including public safety
Prepare necessary budget information and monitor expenditures
Assist with the development of the Departments equipment reserve budget
Responsible for the management of the Parks Division Fleet
Qualified candidates will possess:
Degree or Diploma in the field of Landscaping, Horticulture, arboriculture or equivalent with Provincial Pesticide Applicators Certificate
Minimum of 2 years experience related to the operation and maintenance of parks and greenspaces, outdoor sports fields, and playgrounds
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
Valid Class 5 drivers license
Experience with Windows based systems and various Microsoft Office programs
Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
