Description

The aspimmakan/Wawokiya will assist students to set personal holistic, academic, and life goals when required and co-construct a strategy plan with the student that focuses on increased engagement, work completion and attendance. The aspimmakan/Wawokiya will work with the parent/caregiver of each student to support their involvement in their students goals and engagement with learning at the school.
Duties Include:
Holistic Achievement plans- each student will have a holistic achievement plan, which will include goal setting and actions to achieve those goals. These will be written with the student, family and school. The aspimmakan/Wawokiya will be responsible for regular check-ins with students and their support people. This will be building their bundle.
Help students to get organized, stay organized, and keep pace with school work
Facilitate student connections with knowledge carriers and various cultural advisors
Support family transition interviews for students transitioning into the school
Liaise with and engage First Nation community leadership in the school
Attend community events and host special meals for students
Facilitate school cultural events with Elders and knowledge carriers
Assist with facilitation of career connections, career spotlights, career fairs
Support families with JP applications
Assist families with accessing Edsby
Assist with completion of credit recovery applications
Complete home visits throughout the year
Consult with local Elders and knowledge carriers to develop a plan.
Monthly meetings with School Outreach Liaisons, Education Coordinators, and First Nations Representatives
Weekly reporting to School Administration
Attend regular staff and Following Their Voices meetings
Support school projects and programming as needed.
