Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of safe, sustainable, and effective fire response strategies and systems for the City of Yorkton
- Ensure all firefighting personnel are trained, equipped, and qualified to safely deliver fire and medical first responses
- Respond, as required, to fire, rescue, and medical events within the City, designated rural response areas, as well as mutual aid requests, providing command, control, and scene safety at events
- Maintains liaison with federal, Provincial, and Municipal authorities and others on matters related to the department.
- Carry out fire investigations and compile documentation and report for the Fire Department and the Office of the Fire Commissioner
- Assist with the development and recommendations for the annual Fire Budget long with the overall Fire Department Operating and Capital Budgets
- Responsible for the outcomes of human resources management and the effective leadership and training of employees (fulltime, temporary and auxiliary).
- Work with surrounding Fire departments to develop strong response and training synergies
- Act as Duty On-Call Chief Officer for a seven (7) day period on a rotating basis
Qualifications:
- Grade XII diploma.
- 10 years Fire Fighting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
