Description

Duties:
Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Is responsible for accurately filling out process sheets daily logs and job travelers as project documentation is required
Performing first level of quality control
Accurately lay out the work piece for fitting of components for, drilling or punching of holes, bending of plates and material edge preparation. (Chamfer, Bevel, Flame Cut, Plasma)

Required Skills:
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using process such as gas tungsten arc welding. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW) shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
Submerged arc welding (SAW) in an asset but not a requirement
Professional Certification (e.g. an CWB welding certificate) will be a plus
Capable of adjusting welding machines to the proper parameters given by the WPDS and perform quality welding to the applicable standard. (CWB, ASME, API)
Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
Has some knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment under this classification
Is familiar with and has understanding of most fabrication jobs and operations
Must have knowledge of blueprint reading and symbols
Must be capable of working under minimum amount of supervision
Has good understanding in proper use and care of jigs
Able to effectively communicate in both technical and user-friendly language when appropriate, with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers, and other stakeholders
Must have a good understanding of math strategies for calculating angles, lengths and circumference
