Positions offered on a full time, part time and/or casual basis. Successful candidates will report to SVDC Executive Director.
Job Responsibilities:
Assisting the SVDC Executive Director as required
Providing constant supervision ensuring the safety and well-being of children
Fostering a positive environment by responding to the needs of each child, utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching and techniques
Sharing the responsibility of planning, preparing and implementing programs and activities, including reading, storytelling, songs, art, dramatic play and physical activity
Ensuring programs operate in compliance with childcare licensing standards
Sharing the responsibility of maintaining the center and its equipment by cleaning, organizing, sanitizing and completing minor repairs
Guiding and assisting children in the development of healthy eating, dressing and toiletry habits
Assisting with meal preparation and serving
Following center policies and procedures as outlined in the SVDC Employee Manual
Establishing collaborative relationships with children, coworkers and SVDC Board of Directors
Developing and maintaining relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians
Supporting SVDC Executive Director and Board of Directors with fundraising events when required
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience and interest in early leaning and child care environments
Positive attitude and creative outlook
Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
Capable of lifting and moving up to 50lbs
Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector check
First Aid and CPR, or the willingness to obtain
Food Safe Certification, or the willingness to obtain
18 years or older and legally entitled to work in Canada
Additional Assets
ECE Level 1, 2 or 3 certification
