Job description
The Weekend Welder operates welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A steady hand and attention to detail is important. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their properties is essential.

Primary Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
Operate submerged Arc welding equipment
Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
Operate brazing and soldering equipment
Operate metal shaping machines
Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Qualifications
Apprentice / Journeyperson or equivalent relevant experience
Valid CWB certified is an asset
3+ years experience with Mig (steel)
Experience with Tig, stainless steel & aluminum is an asset
The shift for the weekend welder will we Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (36hrs). This shift is offered a premium on all hours worked, as well as, an addition premium to pay 40hrs for working 36hrs.
