Livestock Labourer Description
Livestock labourers assist on the farm to help raise cattle and to help carry out feeding, health and breeding programs. They may assist in the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and buildings.
Main duties
Livestock Labourers may performs some or all of the following duties:
o Feed and tend to livestock. May be very cold winter temperatures.
o Sort, brand and handle animals
o Maintain or assist in the maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure including cleaning stables, barns, barnyards and pens
o Assist with calving.
o May monitor health of animals and help to provide care.
o May prepare animals for transportation.
o May operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
o May write progress reports of equipment maintenance.
