Description

We are looking for a compassionate, caring, patient person, with an upbeat attitude and strong interpersonal skills. The Parent Support Worker will assist the Maternal Child Health Program by improving health outcomes for pregnant women and families with infants and young children, by focusing on culture, role-modeling and healthy teachings by linking community resources. About the facility: LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the wellbeing of all members. We provide accessible, high quality health services and programs. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we address both acute needs and the determinants of health.

About the position: Working 7.5 - hour shifts, some overtime may be required. Will provide in-home support, teaching individuals and groups on parenting topics. Advocate, refer and act as a liaison for families. Work closely with Health Care Professionals and working with the Public Health Nursing program to provide and deliver programs and services.

Suitable candidates will have a minimum Grade 12 or a combination of Education and Experience may be considered; Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain; Personal experience as a parent or caregiver of infants &/or young children is an asset and working with First Nations Communities is an asset; Ability to understand/speak Cree is an asset; Excellent written and communication skills; Must possess a valid drivers license
