South Prairie Transport 100% locally owned and is a leader in the waste hauling industry with a fleet of 10 tractor trailer units and 4 mechanics. We understand the trucking industry and work with our drivers and mechanics to create a safe, efficient and positive work place. Job Description:

This role would work to maintain and repair our fleet of tractor-trailers along with other custom projects. They would work with other mechanics to troubles shoot, remove and repair all types of vehicles in our fleet. They would maintain our fleet of vehicles by completing oil changes, filter changes and vehicles inspections.

General Duties:

Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of a wide variety of equipment, both mobile and stationary

Hands on troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, replace, overhaul, and maintenance of trucks and heavy equipment used in waste hauling industry

Dealing with breakdowns in the shop, on the road, at the landfill, and at customer sites

Adherence to company, and customer, site safety policies and procedures.

Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems

Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the principals and operation of the diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines, electrical systems for all vehicles and equipment and the ability to diagnose problems

Observe safety precautions, handling procedures and techniques while working with hot engines, high pressure oils, fuels, gases and dangerous chemicals

Knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of large fleet vehicles
