Reporting to the President, the position is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of First Nations language and cultural resource management research for the Centre. The role includes research design, data analysis and synthesis, report preparation, partnership building (provincially, nationally and internationally), and knowledge exchange with academic, community and government audiences, for several projects.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in or equivalent professional designation in Arts with a specialization in Indigenous Studies
Ability to speak in one of the Saskatchewan First Nation languages
Knowledge of First Nations communities, traditions, history, cultural protocols and practices
Ability to design, implement and synthesize research and research findings
Ability to develop and use qualitative and quantitative data collection tools
Demonstrated understanding of established research principles and guidelines for First Nations communities
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs; familiar with database systems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong writing and editing skills
Knowledge of culturally appropriate ways of working with First Nation people, communities and governments
Knowledge of First Nations government and non-First Nations governments, programs and policies related to the SICCs mandate
Ability and willingness to travel (holds a valid Saskatchewan Drivers License and owns a reliable vehicle)
