The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking one (1) Senior Policy Specialist to join the MLTC Program and Services Office. The Education Senior Policy Specialist is responsible for providing research support to the MLTC principal team members on ongoing projects and leading client files as they pertain to the policy of the MLTC Program and Services Inc. The main focus primarily will be Education (transitionary process), CFS (Bill C92), and other areas as deemed fit in the future. The incumbent will be tasked with specific policy research directives and quantitative and qualitative analyses and be responsible for developing reports, literature reviews, briefs, summaries and support the Land, Language, Relationships and Culture foundations for Education within the position which includes but is not limited to: work plans, projects, initiatives, research, planning, collaborations. The position is collaborative and flexible to the changing demands but requires a candidate who is self-motivated, driven, and manages their time efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Identifying political and social trends and developments as they relate to First Nations policy priorities and initiatives.
-Collaborating with fellow researchers to conduct research related to projects and client files.
-Undertaking specific research tasks including cross-sectoral environmental scans, information gathering, and secondary research.
-Researching, analyzing, and interpreting municipal, provincial, federal, and other social and health policies as they pertain to Indigenous education, child and family systems and Nations.
-Designing and executing quantitative research analyses.
-Engaging with individuals, Nations, and other stakeholders across various sectors to understand impacts, best practices, and gaps in knowledge related to First Nations education and child and family systems and policies.
