Our Youth Mentoring Program helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. By becoming part of the Team, the Youth Mentor can help youth develop positive life skills, reach positive academic, career, You must be strongly interested in working with young people, be willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures, willing to complete the application and screening process, dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments, attend mentor training sessions as prescribed, willing to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity information, and take constructive feedback regarding mentoring activities, have reliable vehicle and a good driving record and provide a criminal record check. Youth Mentor provides mentoring, teaching, support, supervision, exceptional services and transportation to youth in care, or who are involved with Ministry of Social Services. These services include engaging youth in numerous areas to build better lives through economic independence, strong relationships and community involvement. Hours of this position are usually after school and evening.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 or GED equivalent
A Life Skills Coach certificate and/or related training or experience would be an asset.
One-on-one counseling and/or group counseling experience would be an asset.
Criminal Record Check required, CPR/First Aid Certificate, Drivers Abstract, Valid Drivers license and a reliable/insurable vehicle.
