The Ministry of Corrections, Policingand Public Safety (CPPS) is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan's correctional system and facilities, providing the safe and secure custody of adult and youth offenders and delivering programs that promote safety and reduce re-offending.

Correctional Officers are professionals who work directly with adult offenders, holding them accountable and supporting positive change in their lives, while maintaining the safe and secure operation of the facility.
Typically, the requirements for success in this position are:
- Completion of a High School diploma;
- Experience and/or education in the social sciences, correctional services, or similar discipline;
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License;
- Valid First Aid CPR/AED;
- Correctional Officers Physical Abilities Test (COPAT): The COPATis a timed physical abilities test that is comprised of activities designed to reflect the physical challenges faced in a correctional environment. The COPAT is mandatory and must be completed prior to receiving an offer of employment. It is strongly recommended that applicants complete the COPAT prior to application and submit documentation as part of their application submission.
