Applications are invited to apply for a Physics Technician (Electronics) position at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre or Allan Blair Cancer Centre (Regina). The Physics Technician is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, testing of Radiation Therapy Equipment. This may require design, and fabrication of complex electro-mechanical equipment. The aim is to ensure maximum availability of equipment for clinical use.
This position reports to the Director of Medical Physics.
The Saskatoon and Allan Blair Cancer Centres provide radiation oncology services for approximately 2,400 patients annually. The equipment complement across the two Centres include GE Lightspeed CT simulators, TrueBeam and iX linear accelerators, orthovoltage units and HDR remote afterloaders. Treatment planning software suite includes Eclipse, RadCalc, Mobius and Oncentra.
The successful candidate will have a two (2) year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology. Technical maintenance courses in High Energy Medical Linear Accelerators, CT Simulators and Orthovoltage treatment units are an asset. Plus, two (2) years experience in the maintenance and repair of medical linear accelerators or related equipment.
The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency may assist new employees financially in relocating to Saskatoon or Regina by providing reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred.
