Responsibilities:
-Implement HR strategies, programs and processes (e.g., recruitment, employee orientation, compensation and benefit programs, labor relations, etc.)
-Support leaders in interpreting policies and resolving employee relations matters
-Handle personnel concerns and participate in their resolution
-Work to develop and execute staffing plans, initiate recruitment, prepare job descriptions and assess job level and salary ranges
-Administer disability and Workers compensation claims
-Monitor training/development needs, participate in the development of plans/programs, and support implementation
-Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices
-Support day-to-day administration of the collective bargaining agreement
-Support all aspects relating to benefits
-Assist with other HR staff members on the management of employment issues, such as:
i. Provide guidance, education, administration and support on all aspects relating to company polices and standards
ii. Provide advice on employer/employee rights and responsibilities
iii. Assist with the management of disagreements, conflicts, grievance and arbitration procedures
iv. Advise on matters of effective employee performance management
Skills and Qualifications:
-Degree in Human Resources (or equivalent combination of education and working experience)
-Minimum 5 years of previous HR generalist experience
-Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
-Prior payroll experience is an asset
-Intermediate skill level with computer applications including MS Office and HR databases (SAP and ADP)
-Human Resource professional certification is an asset
-Proficient knowledge of employment legislation, acts and policies
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake site
-14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
