The Saskatchewan Research Councils Mining and Energy Division has a career opportunity for a Research Technologist to join its Pipe Flow Technology CentreTM. This is a 6-month term position with the possibility of extension.
Accountabilities
Operate lab equipment to perform tests to support pipe test loop and pilot process research projects
Assist in method development or modify procedures to meet project needs
Track results using computer software and communicate information with co-workers
Perform basic service and maintenance of the research equipment, instrumentation and laboratory, and troubleshoot problems as required
Maintain a clean and safe working area
Participate in hazard assessments and the development of standard operating procedures
Perform maintenance of pilot plant facilities and equipment for pilot plant areas
Qualifications
A diploma in chemical technology, mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent
One to five years of industry experience
Experience operating, maintaining and repairing analytical equipment such as instruments, sensors, and small and medium-scale test apparatus is required
Hands-on experience operating, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, flow systems, instruments and sensors
Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word, and data acquisition systems
Valid Class 5 Drivers license
Skills
Demonstrated understanding of laboratory and industrial safety practices and operation of chemical process equipment
Ability to multitask and troubleshoot problems as they arise
Highly motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks
Team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
