Description

The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking one (1) highly motivated individual for the position of Safety and Awareness Liaison.  Reporting to the Director of Justice, the Safety and Awareness Liaison position is responsible for promoting, coordinating, collaborating and enhancing community safety and awareness to member First Nations and assist in the development of strategies in the area of personal road and traffic safety and prevention.


Duties:
    Identify issues with each of the communities to develop an appropriate response to each community
    Work in collaboration with existing community resources to develop proven strategies and best practice solutions that address the issues such as the RCMP Child Safety Seat Clinic
    Develop and Coordinate Safety and Prevention initiatives in First Nations Schools in the area of pedestrian, bike and road safety
    Identify areas where additional resources are required to reduce traffic-related incidents such as infrastructure improvements, law enforcement enhancement
    Safety and traffic safety in collaboration with Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) laws and enforcement guides will provide the content for the Education
    Education and Awareness workshops will be provided in collaboration with the Active Measures program targeted to support youth between the ages of 18-24
    Promote and develop a Program in cooperation with SGI that is culturally sensitive to the specific needs of each of First Nations
    Use SGIs Traffic Safety Strategy as a guide when developing and implementing effective traffic safety initiative in member communities
    Assist in planning and facilitating a Safety Summit every other year to address behavioral traffic issues
    Attend training and development seminars to enhance skills in the areas of defensive driving, pedestrian, bike, road, all terrain vehicles and vehicle safety
    Provide awareness regarding federal and provincial regulations in the area of Traffic Acts.
