The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a temporary full-time Clerk-Steno position in the Department of Parks and Recreation for the duration of 12 18 months. Under the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Clerk-Steno is responsible for the performance of the following duties:
- Type correspondence, dictation, reports, forms, etc. and operate office equipment
- Receive visitors and telephone calls to the office, ascertain the nature of the enquiry and direct the inquiries to the appropriate department
- Take facility bookings and rentals, and maintain an up to date database on contracts
- Maintain a current and cumulative departmental filing system
- Receive cheques, issue receipts and deposit monies received for facility rentals and cemeteries
- Process and administer various applications for permits from the City
Qualified applicants will possess:
- Grade 12 education supplemented by administration, secretarial and/or clerical training or suitable and sufficient experience
- 1 to 2 years' experience in a senior administrative/secretarial position
- Accurate typing skills at 60 words per minute
- Strong clerical and organizational skills
- In-depth working knowledge of computer software packages and office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
