Agriculture in the Classroom SK (AITC-SK) is a registered charity that develops and delivers agriculture education programs and resources. We are developing a new program that aims to empower Indigenous youth with STEM and agriculture experiences while raising awareness about rewarding agricultural careers. This is a remote position based in Saskatchewan. Travel will be required.
Job Description:
As the Coordinator of the Agriculture Program for Indigenous Youth, you will play a crucial role in developing and leading this innovative program. Your responsibilities will include:
Program Development: Collaboratively develop culturally appropriate programming that combines STEM and agriculture that aligns with the values, traditions, and needs of Indigenous communities.
Community Engagement: Engage Indigenous communities to participate in building the program.
Partnerships: Engage and build partnerships with organizations that share an interest in STEM education and Indigenous youth.
Inclusive Collaboration: Respect and honor Indigenous traditions and values while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
You identify as Indigenous, Mtis, or Inuit, with lived experience in Indigenous communities and an understanding of Indigenous knowledge and traditions related to agriculture and the land.
Experience in culturally appropriate and inclusive program coordination, community engagement, and partnership building is highly valuable.
A passion for education and empowering youth, particularly in STEM and agriculture fields, is essential.
A degree in agriculture, environmental studies, Indigenous studies, or a related field is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and create a collaborative and supportive environment.
Strong organizational and project management abilities to lead program development, coordinate activities, and meet project deadlines.
