The Role
As the safety specialist, you will be part of the safety, health, and radiation department, reporting to the coordinator, safety. Your knowledge and experiences will ensure processes are followed, and working with your group you will make improvements as opportunities are identified. With safety at the forefront, there will be a wide variety of duties, keeping your day-to-day work exciting and challenging.
In this role, you will:
-Develop and implement change management plans and communication materials for safety improvement initiatives
-Engage and mentor front line workers and supervisors in the field and in the classroom
-Complete assessments of existing safety programs
-Complete workplace inspections and sampling to support the industrial hygiene program
-Complete safety officer duties in the absence of the safety officer
Required:
-Bachelors degree in a field relating to safety (occupational safety, industrial hygiene)
-Three to five years of related experience
-Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
-Experience in change management planning and execution
-Work a rotational one week on/one week off schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
-Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or -Industrial Hygienist designation (ROH)
-Fire protection system/National fire code experience
