Description

The Rockglen Childcare Centre is currently seeking applications for a full-time Early Childhood Educator (ECE). Wage will be based on education and experience.  Employees working 24 hours or more per week will be eligible to receive health and dental benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Supervise and engage children throughout the day including during individual and group activities, free play and structured play.
-Assist the Centre Director with planning and developing programs according to the interests and levels of the children.
-Provide care that prioritizes children's overall safety, security and well-being.
-Lead activities such as reading, telling stories, teaching songs and providing opportunities to express creativity through arts and crafts, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
-Guide and assist children in development of healthy eating, dressing and washing hands.  
-Assist with administrative duties such as preparing reports, record keeping and attending staff meetings.
-Maintain child care equipment and assist with cleaning, sanitizing and keeping the Center in an overall state of cleanliness.
-Manage behavioral issues in accordance with established policies and practices with patience and flexibility.
-Follow all applicable operational policies and procedures.
-Other duties as assigned by the Centre Director.

Education and Other Requirements
-Formal ECE education, which may include:
-Minimum of ECE Level I (3 classes) from a recognized college or equivalent (or willingness to obtain. Tuition costs 100% reimbursed); or
Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or equivalent; or
-Valid First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
-Current criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
-18 years of age or older and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
