Description

The Rockglen Childcare Centre is currently seeking applications for the position of a part-time one on one Early Childhood Educator (ECE).  The successful applicant will work approximately 32 hours (4 days) per week, providing one on one care to a child with diverse needs.  Wage will be based on education and experience.  Employees working 24 hours or more per week will be eligible to receive health and dental benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Provide care and supervision according to the individualized program plan ensuring that the childs needs are met.
-Organize developmentally appropriate materials and activities to meet individualized program plan objectives.
-Ability to provide learning opportunities and behavioural support.
-Consult with internal and external stakeholders in addressing the goals and objectives of the individualized program plan (ie: parents, government consultant, supporting professionals, etc).
-Provide care that prioritizes the child's overall safety, security and well-being.
-Lead activities such as reading, telling stories, teaching songs and providing opportunities to express creativity through arts and crafts, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
-Guide and assist child in development of healthy eating, dressing and washing hands.  
-Maintain appropriate records and assist with administrative duties such as preparing reports and attending staff meetings.
-Other duties as assigned by the Centre Director.

Education and Other Requirements
Formal ECE education, which may include:
Minimum of ECE Level I (3 classes) from a recognized college or equivalent (or willingness to obtain. Tuition costs 100% reimbursed); or
Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or equivalent.
Valid First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
Current criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
18 years of age or older and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

 - Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate
 - Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
Early Childhood Education Skills
 - Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
 - Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
 - Prepare progress reports and discuss with parents and other staff members
 - Assess the developmental level of children
