Job Description: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Environmental Public Health, the Public Health Inspector Supervisor assists with maintaining and promoting environmental public health for citizens residing in the Saskatoon Area.  This employee is responsible for the direct supervision of Public Health Inspectors (PHI), the Senior Public Health Inspector, and the Tobacco Youth Test Shopper Program Team Lead. This position is responsible for assuming a leadership role in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and will be responsible for ensuring that programs are delivered in an effective and efficient manner.



Required Qualifications

Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada), CPHI
Environmental Health degree or equivalency is required
Experience
Five years of continual experience in Public Health Inspection and previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
Ability to coordinate the day-to-day activities for the various programs with minimum supervision
Ability to cope with ever changing work place
Ability to deal tactfully and respectfully with staff and the public
Ability to interpret provincial legislation
Ability to interpret, apply and enforce regulations with discretion and good judgment
Ability to prepare effective statistics and other reports
Ability to train and coach staff in a team orientated atmosphere
Ability to use and train staff on pertinent department software
Ability to use sound judgement in problem solving and decision making
Ability to work collaboratively and to establish and maintain good working re
