Southeast College has an opening within its Powerline Technician (PLT) Instructional Team.
Start Date: As available
Ongoing (200-240 days per year)
Joining a team of highly qualified instructional staff, the successful candidate will:
-Instruct Levels 1 through 4 of the PLT Apprenticeship Technical Training Program as outlined by SATCC
-Instructional topics include, but are not limited to: pole climbing safety, AC and DC theory, rigging, structures, line work, bonding and grounding, line design and drawings, above ground and underground systems, specific terminology associated with the trade and ground disturbance procedures
-Evaluates student progress regularly while maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date records including student marks
-Serve as a subject matter expert for any related curriculum development activities
Knowledge & Skills
-Effective oral and written communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
-Well-established depth of knowledge in powerline work and its practical application in industry
-Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of LMS (eg. Blackboard) considered an asset.
-Ability to demonstrate all physical aspects of training.
Education & Experience
-Red Seal Journeyperson Powerline Technician
-5 to 10 years recent, relevant experience as a journeyperson Powerline Technician
-Preference may be given to individuals with prior experience instructing adults or in a leadership role, and those who can demonstrate a strong application of mathematical concepts.
Other Requirements
-Satisfactory CRC is required.
