Southeast College has an opening for an EAL (English as an Additional Language) instructor at our Estevan Campus location.
Start Date: As soon as mutually agreed
End Date: June 28, 2024
Total Contract Hours: 214.8
Class schedule: Tuesday & Thursday evenings
Typical duties of the EAL Instructor include, but are not limited to:
- preparing lessons based on learner need
- organizing learner assessment
- providing language instruction to meet identified outcomes
- arranging community outings and speakers
- promoting EAL services within the community.
Knowledge & Skills
- English as a first language and/or a high level knowledge of the English language; well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment; ability to promote and encourage diversity, individual dignity and mutual respect
- Ability to facilitate groups with differing opinions, experience, and background
Education & Experience
- A Bachelors Degree in a related field
- TESL Saskatchewan or TESL Canada Accreditation OR interest in becoming accredited and pursuing training in a recognized TESL accredited program. Preference will be given to candidates that meet the education requirements.
- A minimum of one year experience working with adult literacy or EAL programming.
- Functional knowledge of on-line tools for instructional purposes such as TEAMS and learning management systems (Google Classroom, Blackboard) is required.
Other requirements
- Satisfactory CRC with Vulnerable Sector (VS) check.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
