Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner working in the Emergency Room is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with their legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner practices within a framework of evidence-based interventions, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The practice involves working within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) nursing program objectives, guidelines, and policies and procedures and building partnerships that support inter-professional collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan(CRNS) as an Nurse Practitioner
- Masters Degree in Nursing required
- Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, CAEP Canadian Triage and Acuity Score Course
- Valid drivers licence (Class 5)
- Five (5) years experience as a Registered Nurse in an emergency or critical care environment preferred
