Description

Under the direction of the Director of Resident Care, Personal Care Workers / Continuing Care Aides meet resident needs through activities of daily living including physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. As a PCW/CCA, you are responsible for assisting residents with bathing, showering, grooming, and other personal hygiene tasks. you will also engage residents in activities like reading, talking, and playing games. Distribution of medication, taking and monitoring blood pressure, and blood sugar.
Specialized care as directed and trained by LPN.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
-Grade 12 or equivalent
-Personal Care Worker Course - 16 hour course (can be taken within the 1st 3 months of employment)
-Basic First Aid/CPR

Experience:
-1 or more years experience working in an assisted living facility.

KEY ACTIVITIES
A. Direct Care and Monitoring of Residents
-Assists with activities of daily living as per care plan.
-Provide bathing and grooming services.
-Assist in dressing and undressing residents.
-Provide oral care.
-Assist residents with range-of-motion and personal exercise programs.
-Assist with treatments as per care plan.
-Monitor and ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
-Observe, report (written and/or shift) and record physical and psychological observations/changes in resident condition.
-Promote the social, spiritual, psychological and emotional well-being of resident, monitor and report to the care team changes in behavior.
-Promote good communication with residents and their support system.
-Provide medication assistance as per protocol, where required.
-Respond to resident call systems, where required.

B. Indirect Care
-Record information in resident's chart.
-Files/maintains documentation (charts and notes).
-Order, maintain and distribute inventory for resident usage.
-Record inventory items for billing purposes.
-Clean and sanitize all related equipment and surroundings
