The Controller is responsible for all internal accounting and office management functions of the firm. Duties will include but are not limited to:
-Posting daily journal entries, maintenance of the general ledger, and monthly bank reconciliations for both General and Trust Accounts
-Reconciliation of all subledgers such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Sales Tax, etc.
-Performance of all Trust Accounting transactions and maintenance of the Client Trust Listing
-Preparation and completion of external financial reporting such as the monthly and annual reports as prescribed by The Law Society of Saskatchewan
-Compilation and preparation of various management accounting reports and information
-Administration of the time entry and billing systems
-Preparation and filing of GST and PST returns as well as making the required remittances
-Administration of payroll for both staff and lawyers and related duties such as remittance of source deductions, administration of benefits plan, etc.
-Consistent review of office and accounting procedures to ensure maximum inter-office efficiency and compliance with The Law Society of Saskatchewan are upheld
-Providing assistance to client inquiries in a professional and efficient manner and other client-facing interactions such as taking payments, providing statements, etc.
-Performing all assigned tasks while upholding a high standard of confidentiality for both external clients and internal staff members
-Liaising with vendors and partnership to ensure all office needs are met (i.e. working with IT service provider, procurement of all office supplies, etc.)
-Preparation and compilation of the year-end draft financial statements and supporting documentation in order to facilitate filings by our external accountants
