Description

The organization's security officer ensures the safety and security of our premises, clients, staff, and visitors by patrolling property both inside and outside the building, monitoring access points and surveillance equipment. The security officer investigates incidents as well as other suspicious or concerning behavior and completes reports as required, recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.  Overall, security officers are tasked with securing the premises and personnel by staying on patrol; operating with a high degree of both personal and professional integrity, honesty and trust.
Requirements:
*Previous security experience would be an asset.
*Experience in the human services field or similar work environment is required.
*Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution shown through past work experience or previous training programs.
*Proven critical thinking and decision making skills.
*Ability to operate security equipment/systems, computers, radios, phones, etc.
*A broad knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
*Knowledge/understanding of poverty, homelessness, oppression, addiction and mental illness.
*Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and client privacy.
*Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial, team environment.
*Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
*Working with potentially violent/aggressive clients.
*Working with individuals who are intoxicated, may be volatile and may destabilize their functioning.
*Knowledge of overdose response.
*Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Clearance required.
