The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a team oriented psychiatrist to provide a generalized psychiatry service in Yorkton, SK and area. The position provides opportunity to work in broad areas of psychiatry ranging from children and adolescents to a senior population. The psychiatrist will be part of the multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, social workers, and psychologists and addiction counselors. He or she will be expected to provide leadership for the team in a collegial approach and be ready to work with external bodies as required. In addition to regular clinic, the psychiatrist will provide in-patient service, emergency coverage on a rotational basis (1 in 5) and travel to satellite clinics to provide services. The position provides integrated mental health and addiction services including both inpatient and outpatient care.
Job Qualifications:
Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or have a valid letter of eligibility (Not required if eligible for Ministerial License with CPSS)
Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) or be eligible for
A valid drivers license
Language of work is English
Legal entitlement to work in Canada
Minimum of 3 acceptable references
An acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
Experience providing Generalist Psychiatry services within a catchment model
Demonstrable evidence in multidisciplinary approach of care/management
Understanding of Saskatchewan provincial laws and regulations of commitment and release of the mentally ill under the Mental Health Services Act would be an asset
