Description

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Researcher/Analyst III within the Child Welfare and Social Development (CWSD) Department. The primary responsibilities include researching, developing, advising, and providing recommendations and/or studying the feasibility of First Nation projects or issues. Provide research, technical or analytical information based on assigned projects and/or prepare proposals. Provide written documentation for briefings, updates, strategic planning, or media releases.

The position will be responsible for planning FSIN and community engagement sessions stakeholder meeting working groups and other relevant tables, within a team, under the direction of the Director of Child Welfare and Social Development. Data collection, analyzing, and providing draft briefing on high level First Nation Child Welfare and C-92 legal documents. Must be willing to travel and engage in person.

Research and Analysis
Identify, research, and provide analysis, for consideration, on new and/or revisions to current First Nation Child & Family Service legislation and policies that relate to the promotion, enhancement and implementation of the Treaty Rights or related department initiatives.
Identify, research, and provide analysis on resource materials and legal documents related to child welfare.
Provide advice, information and assistance on issues and initiatives (First Nations, federal and provincial) related to child welfare including the development of resource materials.
Research and compile archival documents.
Provide research advice on, write, review and report on proposals and participate on team projects that require several employees for input
Gap analysis on all child welfare draft, final and working agreements.
Analyze and evaluate data determined by the nature of the research.
Study research undertaken elsewhere and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses in app
