Description

The City of Moose Jaw is accepting applications for summer positions in our Roadways Branch, Operations Department for combination Labourer/Truck Driver.

MAIN DUTIES:
Perform various labouring and truck driving duties related to construction and maintenance projects which include:
-    Safety Watch Duties
-    Operating various small equipment related to City projects
-    Heavy manual labour by assisting in the excavation and backfilling of holes and ditches by shovelling and spreading dirt, rock, gravel, etc.
-    Overseeing cargo handling and securing loads
-    Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded
-    Complying with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous good
-    Circle check vehicle or equipment before driving or operating ensuring mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order

This position will perform labourer and truck driving duties.

The ideal candidate will have:
-    Valid 1A, 3A or 3G Driver's License and eligible for coverage under the City's insurance policy.
-    Physical ability to perform heavy manual labour.
-    Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relations with supervisors, other employees and work courteously and tactfully with the general public;
-    Able to understand verbal and written instructions, provide written reports and maintain neat and accurate records.
