This position reports directly to the Town Foreman. As Public Works Operator I you have the ability to work without direct supervision but within approved policies, procedures and specifications. Have the ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to, trucks, tractors, loaders, lawn mowers and other miscellaneous equipment. The individual must have knowledge of and the ability to do general maintenance including garbage pickup, mowing, tree pruning, snow removal, street signs and maintenance of Town equipment as directed by the Town Foreman. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Town Foreman.
Physical requirement include:
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Bending, kneeling, stretching and reaching
- Assist with utility repairs and repairs to the street and roads
- Assist with repairs to the Town equipment
- Assist with cleaning the Public Works building and grounds
- Working with required chemicals and fuels
- Subject to call out duties as required
- Work requires being outdoors every day regardless of weather conditions
- Perform duties according to supervisors instructions
Education
- High School Diploma equivalent or a combination of experience and education
- Mechanically inclined
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
