Job Description: The SHNB RN (NP) is an integral member of the Saskatchewan Hospital health care team who provides and coordinates initial, continuing and comprehensive nursing services to clients of the SHNB. The SHNB RN (NP) functions within the population health promotion model while providing preventative, maintenance of wellness; and illness and injury prevention services. The SHNB RN (NP) collaborates and makes appropriate referrals to other health care professionals, initiates and/or participates in community development initiatives and participates in the evaluation of SHNB initiatives within the site. Develops ongoing monitoring and management of Chronic Diseases especially those related to medication side effects used in Mental Health illness management. Supports the Mental Health team in managing medical conditions.

The Saskatchewan Hospital RN (NP) reports to the Director of Nursing.  The SHNB RN (NP) does not directly supervise others.

Demonstrates competencies as outlined in the SRNA RN (NP) Standards and Competencies 2011.

The SHNB RN (NP) generally works from 08:00 to 16:30 Monday-Friday. Due to programming, hours may vary (Field Hours).

Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Program. Must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) as an RN (NP). Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support. Valid drivers licence. Experience in Mental Health would be considered an asset.  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates sound evidence-based knowledge and judgment when making decisions about a clients nursing care. Demonstrates knowledge of population health promotion theory and practice and ability to transfer this knowledge into practice.  Demonstrates strong communication and public relations skills
