Duties:
Provide a warm, caring, holistic, inclusive & secure environment. The environment should encourage & allow children to grow & explore
Greet each child & parent in a warm, friendly manner upon arrival & departure
Ensure children are properly supervised at all times
Responsible for the health, welfare & safety of all children
Plan, prepare & implement activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the child's interest & skill level.
Establish routines & provide positive guidance
Provide adequate equipment, materials & activities that are clean, well maintained & safe
All materials required for the daily activities are to be prepared prior to the start of educators - floaters shift.
Interact with the children & encourage their involvement in activities
Read each individual child's file in assigned group & be knowledgeable about their medical & developmental history
Maintain ongoing developmental check for each child
Keep a Portfolio of each child's progress, including photographs, art work, writing, etc.
Maintain communication with parents on a daily bases through various means
Ensures confidentiality of privileged information
Be familiar with emergency procedures.
Cooperatively work with team teachers & other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
Must pose FLEXIBILITY to assist co-workers/other groups/classrooms/site locations/ at anytime required.
Other Duties:
Must be observant of children's interest & educational environment; & be willing to continually adapt programming & environment to meet the children's needs
Participate in monthly staff meetings
Participate in Parent Nights/Open Houses.
Attend courses, workshops, etc. as approved by Director to continually increase ECE knowledge
Contribute to monthly newsletter
Mentor, supervise volunteers & students
Work with community agencies & professionals
Maintain cleanliness of common areas
