The RN is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team that supports individuals in our organization. Responsibilities include screening, assessment, crisis intervention, coordination with community agencies, counseling, consultation, community outreach and follow-up, preparation of reports, as well as client and family education. The nurse gives oversight to medication management with collaboration from medical or clinical professionals. The nurse will take the lead role in providing on-site support & management of basic health care needs/medical conditions and development of care plans.
Requirements:
-Degree or Diploma in Nursing discipline along with professional
registration.
-Demonstrated compassion and empathy towards clients with addictions,
mental illness, physical disabilities, behavioural issues, and/or
medical issues including possible infectious diseases.
-A broad knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous
communities.
-Strong commitment to Trauma Informed Care and Harm Reduction
principles.
-Cultural sensitivity and respect for client individuality and self-
determination.
-Knowledge/understanding of poverty, homelessness, oppression,
addiction, and mental illness.
-Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and client
privacy.
-Proven critical thinking and decision-making skills.
-Ability to resolve conflict.
-Ability to perform all duties per related legislation.
-An understanding of, and commitment to, the philosophies of the
organization
-Knowledge of overdose response.
