Job Description: Is accountable for the advancement of clinical practice, with a special focus on dialysis accesses. An expert clinical nurse who integrates experience, advanced level skill and knowledge using nursing theory and principles of adult learning in the provision of direct patient care, assessment of client care needs, clinical coordination, clinical problem solving as it relates to dialysis accesses. Provides client/patient/resident and staff education and participates in research relating to dialysis accesses. Liaison between managers, nephrologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, staff nurses and infection control to provide seamless coordination of clinical planning, therapeutic activities and client interventions. Integrates knowledge, experience and skill in providing quality client-centered care and improved access creation outcomes. Responsible to participate as a consultant, educator and dialysis access expert in the clinical setting. Collaborates in the establishment and development of policies and procedures which comply with the standards of nursing practice and participates in quality assurance and research activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Experience
5 years of relevant experience in nephrology related clinical practice required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to assist and develop policies and procedures according to best practices
Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
