The Youth Care Worker (Disability Support) (YCW) is responsible for the direct care and supervision of the residents and provides for the youths emotional and physical needs through the provision of basic parenting duties, therapeutic interventions, and the provision of a safe, nurturing, structured environment. The YCW is directly responsible to the Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. To provide supervision to residents and implement daily therapeutic activity plans and daily routines.
2. To provide support to residents in their daily activities, daily routines and personal care, which may include personal assistance with toileting, bathing, brushing teeth and other personal hygiene issues
3. To learn about each residents needs and preferences and support each resident in completing their daily routines as required in areas such as personal hygiene, wake up and sleep routines, meal routines and house hold chores, and personal daily programming.
4. To participate with the team and resident in the establishment and implementation of individual treatment plans, behaviour management interventions, and the individual crisis management plans.
5. To dispense medications to residents according to a doctors instructions and in accordance to the agency medication policy.
6. To ensure timely and accurate information on a daily basis concerning the needs and behaviours of residents.
7. To learn and operate by the agencys philosophy, policies, code of ethics and procedures.
Qualifications: The Youth Care Worker will have a combination of education and experience related to working with youth and will possess personal attributes that facilitate the development of trusting and caring relationships with youth. Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and beliefs is an asset. Criminal Record Check, and valid class 5 drivers license are required. Experience with disability support is also considered an asset.
