Job Description: Required: One (1) year of public health experience required.  A PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE (PHN) IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ASSESSMENT, PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF THE HEALTH AND HEALTH RISKS FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN PRINCE ALBERT PARKLAND HEALTH REGION. A PHN'S SCOPE OF PRACTICE REQUIRES A BROAD KNOWLEDGE BASE AND AUTONOMOUS DECISION MAKING SKILLS. A PHN ALSO PROVIDES CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT TO A WIDE ARRAY OF PROFESSIONALS IN THE COMMUNITY.  THE PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE MANAGER OF PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
CANDIDATES WITH A MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR RECENT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
Advanced communication skills
Knowledge and ability to apply community health nursing theory and principles
Knowledge in public health concepts
Knowledge of growth and development of newborns, children, adolescents and adults
Knowledge of immunology and biologicals used for immunizations
Maintenance of required competencies related to management of anaphylaxis and immunization
Working knowledge in health promotion
