Facility: VICTORIA HOSPITAL
Job Description: This dietitian will provide medical nutrition therapy which includes nutritional assessment, screening, developing evidence-based care plans, counseling, nutrition support, and other needed nutrition interventions for the patients/clients of the Victoria Hospital. This position will be required to provide nutrition management services to multiple medical conditions. This dietitian will work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary health care team to create a patient/client and family-centered environment conducive to the provision of quality care.
Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree with a focus on Food and Nutrition from an accredited Canadian University and completed an internship or a post-graduate training program approved by Dietitians of Canada Association.
- Active member in good standing with the Saskatchewan Dietitian Association
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must have sound knowledge of the role of clinical nutrition in the management of chronic diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, COPD, renal disease etc.), pediatric nutrition, wound management and other medical conditions routinely referred for nutrition counseling.
- Must be proficient in Nutrition Support Management (Tube Feeds/TPN)
- Analytical skills needed for assessing patient/ client's readiness for change, literacy levels, and developing appropriate client centered care plans.
- Must be comfortable providing individual counseling or counseling in a group setting whichever the situation demands
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal) for interacting effectively with patients/clients, their families, and other members of the multi-disciplinary health care team are essential.
