Description

Accounting Clerk - Summer Student

Position Overview:
The City of Prince Albert is looking for a post-secondary student to work in the Financial Services Department. The Accounting Clerk - Summer Student will be responsible to provide coverage and assistance within the Financial Services Department at City Hall from approximately May to August. The candidate will be responsible to collect, enter, analyze, and disburse data as it relates to the Financial Services Division with speed and accuracy.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Summarize, process, and update property ownership information from third party sources into the City database
Assist with reconciling and uploading transactions from multiple City databases
Maintain and balance daily records and spreadsheets
Assist with gathering, summarizing, and sorting data in relation to outstanding accounts
Create and maintain records which includes but is not limited to collection and verification of information, data entry, analysis, problem solving, posting and balancing.
Preparation of documents, including but not limited to: requisitions, invoices, billings, statements, permits, licenses, impound lot releases, journal entries and related reports.
Processing payments to/from vendors.

Required Qualifications:
Ideal candidate would be in the progress of completing a post-secondary diploma or degree from an accredited institution in a business program.
Ability to perform calculations and data entry with speed and accuracy.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
Ability to work independently and manage time and tasks effectively
Ability to work efficiently with databases, spreadsheets, accounting applications and web-based applications.
Excellent customer service skills.
