Description

Autism Services is seeking creative professionals who are passionate about working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our Family Programs day camp team this summer!

This is a fulltime, summer position working directly with Autistic children and youth ages 7 to 18 years old in a day camp setting.  You will be paired one on one with a unique camper each week where you will be responsible for their safety and supervision, be a positive mentor to them, assist them in daily recreational activities and manage behavior strategies when required.
You will report directly to the Summer On-Site Coordinator and Assistant On-Site Coordinator and debrief with your assigned camper's parent or caregiver at the beginning and end of each day.

A snapshot of a day at camp:
- Arrive at our host venue in the morning
- Greet your camper and check in with their parent/guardian
- Facilitate Gym & Classroom activities
- Assist your camper with a morning and afternoon activity off-site in the community
- Prepare for end of day pick up and debrief with your campers parent/guardian

This position is for you if you enjoy:

- being in a fast-paced, recreational day camp environment daily

- facilitating peer to peer interactions among campers
- contributing to a fun, professional team environment

Qualifications:
- Grade 12 graduate
- Demonstrated understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Developed interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work respectfully and cooperatively, both individually and with other team members and families.
- Participate in weekly swimming activities while being in the water within arms reach of your camper.

Details:
This is a summer contract position. You will be committing to a Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM position from July 2 - August 16, 2024 (7 weeks, excluding Stat holidays). The wage is $16.00/hour.
