Leading Thunderbird Lodge is seeking a Cultural Assistant to develop and implement First Nations Cultural programming for the Lodge. The Cultural Assistant supports youth by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their First Nations identity, history, culture and ceremonies.
The candidate:
-participates in the development of cultural programming and practices, cultural activities for the youth; initiating cultural and ceremonial protocols on behalf of the Lodge; working with Elders in providing cultural expertise, practices and guidance
-Maintains positive relationships between LTL and First Nation cultural community
-Facilitator in the treatment of youth and provides individual counselling
-Provides support by identifying and integrating cultural programming and resource materials
-Preparation of monthly cultural activity work plan
-Assists in administrative documentation to implement the cultural program
-Maintain security and supervision for the safety of clients
Minimum qualifications include:
-Grade 12 or equivalent and one(1) year of direct work experience in cultural programming.
The ideal candidate will also exhibit:
-strong personal and cultural experience
-valid Saskatchewan driver's license
-acceptable CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check
-good physical dexterity and health to keep up with youth
-interest and ability to work with youth
-ability to function autonomously and flexible
-high level professionalism and maintain confidentiality
-communicate clearly in English both in writing and verbally
-first aid training or commit to training
-live an exemplary lifestyle as a role model, free from alcohol and drugs
