Based in Pelican Narrow, PBCN Ambulance provides an essential service for several Northeastern Saskatchewan communities. Schedule will be 7 days in, 7 days out. Accommodations will be provided as well as transportation out of Prince Albert.
The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) plays an important role as part of the PBCN Health Services inter-professional health care team providing pre-hospital care for patients including assessing, treatment, transferring and transporting. In the course of their work, they will collaborate with other emergency medical personnel, physicians, nurses and other health professionals. To fulfill their responsibilities they will safely operate emergency vehicles, respond to medical and traumatic emergencies and provide inter-facility transport requests while adhering to professional standards, medical control protocols, standard operating procedures, polices and directives. They are responsible for the cleanliness of the ambulances, commuter vehicle, equipment and ambulance bays. They also maintain the stock of supplies and equipment available in the ambulance.
Education:
- Hold a practicing EMR license through the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) and be in good standing;
- Valid Class IV drivers license and submission of a clean drivers abstract.
Experience:
- No previous job related experience is necessary however it would be considered an asset.
Knowledge:
The incumbent should have proficient knowledge of the following areas:
- A working understanding of the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics protocols, the full scope of Practice of an Emergency Medical Responder, the Saskatchewan Ambulance Act, Traffic Safety Act, and Paramedic Act;
- Medical terminology.
Must provide an acceptable criminal records and vulnerable sector check;
- The incumbent must be willing and able to complete the following courses provided by PBCN Health Services: Privacy training, PART, TLR, CPR, WHMIS and other training as determined.
